No matter whether people like his attitude on and off the field, there was absolutely no reason why former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick didn't get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Throughout his NFL career, Belichick won at a very high level, making him an easy choice. A six-time Super Bowl champion, three-time Coach of the Year, and a two-time Sporting News Coach of the Year, it didn’t make sense that he wouldn’t be in. However, the voters went in a completely different direction last year, a decision that came as a major surprise. Not being a Hall of Famer in his first year of eligibility raised a lot of flags for fans around the league, though it's good to see the Pro Football HOF step in and make some changes. Adam Schefter announced some news Friday morning regarding how this helps Belichick and others. "One year after Bill Belichick got denied entry in his first year of eligibility, the Pro Football Hall of Fame has overhauled its selection process ahead of the 2027 election," Schefter wrote. Jim Porter, the HOF President and CEO, said the changes came after a two-and-a-half-hour meeting. "The Hall continually reviews its bylaws to ensure the selection process reflects the highest standards of integrity and the magnitude of election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame,'' Porter said in a statement. "There is no more important task at the Hall of Fame than the election of each new class.'' Belichick, now coaching at the University of North Carolina, won the first game of his second campaign with the Tar Heels against TCU last weekend. While Belichick will likely be a Pro Football Hall of Famer in the near future, he now has to wait until 2027.
