West Ham, Wolves, Burnley and Middlesbrough are the teams credited with an interest in James. All four are expected to compete at the top of the Championship this season and James won’t come cheap. It was reported earlier this summer that Rennes value James at £13million, two years after they signed him from Blues for around £6m. Blues reportedly inserted a clause in the deal that will see them bank 10 per cent of the profit Rennes make on James, but that isn’t expected to act as a great boost to Chris Davies’ transfer kitty in this window. James has been capped 26 times at senior level by Wales and already has 119 Championship appearances under his belt.
