The NFL rumor mill is heating up again, with the Dallas Cowboys once more being linked to Las Vegas Raiders superstar defensive end Maxx Crosby after creating more than $30 million in salary cap space. According to reports, Dallas restructured the contracts of Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark, two-time Pro Bowl tight end Jake Ferguson, and All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland, creating an additional $19 million in cap room. Crosby’s base salary for the 2026 season is $30 million, immediately fueling speculation that the Cowboys could once again explore a blockbuster deal for the five-time Pro Bowl pass rusher. Dallas previously negotiated with the Raiders before Crosby was dealt to the Baltimore Ravens in a trade that ultimately collapsed after the defensive star reportedly failed his physical. Dallas initially offered the No. 20 overall pick and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa. After Odighizuwa was later traded to the San Francisco 49ers, the Cowboys revisited the potential deal with a more aggressive package involving the No. 12 overall pick and a third-round selection, which was eventually upgraded to a second-rounder. The Cowboys ultimately went even further, reportedly offering the Raiders two first-round picks and edge rusher Rashan Gary, who Dallas acquired during the offseason. Despite the significant offers, a trade never materialized. The 29-year-old would provide the elite pass-rushing presence the Cowboys have lacked since trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers last season. Crosby has established himself as one of the NFL’s most disruptive defensive players, recording double-digit sacks in three of his last four seasons. Despite playing just 15 games last year, he produced 73 total tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception. With Dallas suddenly possessing additional financial flexibility and a previous willingness to pay a premium for Crosby, the Cowboys could once again emerge as a serious suitor.
