Luciano Spalletti has discussed Juventus’ summer transfer window and insists that no club can have the perfect window because such a thing does not exist.
Juve have done their best to strengthen the squad ahead of the rest of the season, but it is obvious they would have wanted to sign more players for their manager. Spalletti asked for some specific players and the club tried to sign some of them, although the manager clearly wanted more stars to join his team.
Spalletti accepts transfer limitations
The manager is more than happy with several of the new arrivals, but he certainly wanted more changes to his squad and had expected that to happen. However, he is experienced enough to understand that things will not always go the way he wants, and there is no such thing as a perfect transfer window.
Spalletti explained that clubs have to work with the circumstances available to them and adapt when situations change. He also praised Juventus’ directors for managing the market effectively and responding to the opportunities that became available.
He said via Gianluca Di Marzio:
“The perfect transfer market no longer exists, only the possible one exists.
“There’s scouting work to identify players who appeal for their various characteristics. Then there’s the situation that happens unexpectedly, to which you have to know how to adapt, just like on the pitch: sometimes you make a plan of action and the others are better, you have to adapt to what happens in the dynamics. Our directors have been very good at fitting into the right contexts and adapting to what the market has to offer.”
Juve hope signings deliver
Juve did some fine pieces of business during the transfer window, even if Spalletti would have preferred to make further changes to his squad. The manager now has to work with the players available to him and ensure the new arrivals settle into the team.
If the new signings all perform well, the Bianconeri could have a strong season and compete for trophies. Spalletti’s comments suggest he understands that the club made the best decisions possible based on the circumstances.
For now, Juve will focus on making the most of their squad and ensuring the players they signed can contribute to their ambitions for the rest of the campaign.
