'Now it’s time' - Sunderland defender speaks as Black Cats exit draws closer A number of Sunderland players are set to agree moves to bring an end to their time at the Stadium of Light. Sunderland defender Arthur Masuaku has arrived in Turkey as he edges closer to a move to Super Lig club Konyaspor. With a surprisingly quiet summer transfer window now entering its final three weeks, Sunderland are preparing to move on a number of squad players with Leo Hjelde set to join Belgian club Mechelen and Academy of Light product Anthony Patterson set to undergo a medical with Championship promotion hopefuls Wrexham after the two clubs agreed an initial fee of around £8m. As reported by The Echo earlier on Monday, midfielder Abdoullah Ba is also set to join Peterborough United on a permanent deal over the next 48 hours as he reunites with former Black Cats team-mate Harrison Jones at the League One club. Masuaku is expected to become the latest departure from Sunderland as his underwhelming one-year stay on Wearside approaches its final stages. The former West Ham United full-back joined the Black Cats on a two-year deal last summer and went on to make just four appearances during the first half of the season before seeing out the campaign in the colours of Lens after joining the Ligue 1 club on loan during the January transfer window. Despite his struggles over the last 12 months, Masuaku was named in the DR Congo squad for this summer’s World Cup finals in North America and he started all three of their group stage games as they collected four points from meetings with Portugal, Colombia and Uzbekistan before falling in the round of 32 following a 2-1 defeat against England. With thoughts now turning towards the next steps in his playing career, Turkish news outlet Yeni Haber Spot have reported Masuaku has now arrived in Turkey as he closes in on a move to join Konyaspor. They have also reported the Black Cats full-back is ready to ‘show what he can do’ as he prepares to join his new club over the next 48 hours. Upon his arrival, Masuaku said: “Thank you very much for welcoming me. I came here in a good mood. Now it’s time to work and show what we can do. Thank you very much.” Your next Sunderland read: Transfer news: Sunderland linked with ex-West Brom and Luton Town goalkeeper as Anthony Patterson nears exit
