Man United offered Arsenal star as Gunners prepared to do deal after Bruno Guimaraes signing
Manchester United have been linked to Myles Lewis-Skelly for some time and Arsenal's current stance on his future has presented them with an opportunity
Myles Lewis-Skelly has been offered to Manchester United after the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes at Arsenal from Newcastle United. The Brazilian cost the Gunners £75million and he is expected to take some of Lewis-Skelly's minutes in midfield.
Arsenal are subsequently open to selling, as reported by the Manchester Evening News' sister-title football.london, with Chelsea also offered the chance to sign him. Both clubs admire the 19-year-old but it remains to be seen if either will pursue a deal.
Lewis-Skelly agreed a new five-year contract in June 2025 but that did not stop United continuing to shown a keen interest after he featured minimally last season until the final few months. His minutes and performances in key games during that period suggested Arsenal wanted to keep him but that may no longer be the case.
Another midfielder and new left-back are wanted by Michael Carrick before the summer transfer window shuts, and Lewis-Skelly, who can operate in both roles, is arguably the perfect signing.
Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos have already arrived to bolster the midfield, with a third signing being pursued. Newcastle United's Lewis Hall was their primary target at left-back, but unlike Lewis-Skelly, he is not available for transfer.

An ambitious swap deal could potentially be approved given Arsenal's requirement to sign a left winger, with Marcus Rashford's future remaining uncertain. This scenario has been suggested as beneficial for both parties considering what Lewis-Skelly and Rashford require moving forward.
The latter returned to Carrington over the weekend and joined up with the United squad for the final leg of their pre-season tour in Dublin. It seems more likely he will now stay at Old Trafford but an exit remains possible.
Strengthening at left-back seems to be the current priority, however, with Jorge Salinas of Racing Santander an alternative to Hall, and despite his preference to remain Spain, United hold an advantage as unlike Barcelona they are willing to pay his asking price.
United have already recruited Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi from Arsenal's academy, and Lewis-Skelly could become the third to make the move in just a few years.
From Chelsea's standpoint, it is believed that if the Blues were to submit a lucrative proposal, their London rivals would struggle to turn it down. That is likely to be the same for if United lodged a sizeable bid.
While he would still play in midfield at Old Trafford, Lewis-Skelly would be more likely to feature regularly in his favoured position under Xabi Alonso.
Chelsea have already invested heavily this summer to bring in Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, but another substantial fee for a Premier League star could pave the way for Enzo Fernandez to depart, with Real Madrid and Manchester City showing interest.
Lewis-Skelly has started all of Arsenal's pre-season games as a defensive midfielder, with Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino all unavailable. His displays have been far from perfect, despite excelling in the left eight role towards the conclusion of last season, which secured him a starting place in the Champions League final.
