TVA Sports will “renew its national broadcast rights deal” with the NHL in Canada for another 12 years. The company is “sub-licensing the rights from Rogers,” which earlier this year renewed its national NHL deal. TVA Sports “will have national French-language rights to 32 of the Canadiens’ 84 regular-season games” -- 10 more than under the previous deal. The deal also “gives TVA Sports rights to all but two first-round playoff series, all but one second-round series and all conference finals and the Stanley Cup final.” The rest go to Amazon Prime Video. But TVA Sports owner Quebecor said that it “has the rights to any playoff games involving the Canadiens.” TVA Sports will also “broadcast 22 regular-season” Senators games and “up to 350 NHL games a season overall” (MONTREAL GAZETTE, 9/3).
