James May gets behind the bar with The Spanner James May teamed up with Dorset brewer and pub company Hall & Woodhouse to create The Spanner, a 3.8% ABV Badger cask ale made with British barley and hops. Developed with head brewer Toby Heasman, the session ale will be poured across the Hall & Woodhouse estate, as well as May’s own pub, The Royal Oak in Swallowcliffe. “The Spanner isn’t trying to be clever,” May said. “It has a single purpose; to be a good, reliable British ale that makes you want to stay in the pub for another, and another.” Cantina Rauscedo turns 75 Cantina Rauscedo welcomed 550 guests to its Friuli headquarters to celebrate the Italian cooperative’s 75th anniversary. Two commemorative magnums, Refosco and Sauvignon Blanc, were unveiled alongside a new artwork by Giorgio Celiberti. The cooperative also published its first sustainability report, revealing that 53% of its energy came from clean sources and water consumption in washing operations had fallen by 22%.
