September 4 – Hollywood star Hugh Jackman is in discussions about buying a stake in Championship club Norwich City. Asked on talkSPORT about following into football ownership his actor friend and Deadpool & Wolverine co-star Ryan Reynolds, who co-owns Wrexham, Jackman said: “I’m very, very interested – and talking about it right now. You’re the first one to know that. There’s a little exclusive. Good on Ryan, you do your thing, I’m all about the Canaries.” Jackman is a Norwich fan and the Australian told the BBC in 2024 that he supports the club because of his mother, after asking where she was born as a child. “We haven’t won a lot,” he admitted then. “We won the Milk Cup. It’s OK. I’m here for the long run.” A genuine global superstar, who is best known for Wolverine, The Greatest Showman and Les Misérables, Jackman would join a growing list of North American celebrities buying into English clubs. Reynolds and Rob Mac own Wrexham, while Michael B. Jordan (Bournemouth), Tom Brady (Birmingham City, Snoop Dogg (Swansea City) and Will Ferrell (Leeds United) all have minority stakes in English league clubs. Norwich finished ninth in the Championship last season, a fifth straight year in the division, having last played in the Premier League in 2021-22. They are majority owned by American billionaire businessman Mark Attanasio, who also controls Major League Baseball’s Milwaukee Brewers.
