Maria Sakkari has bundled out of the US Open after suffering a second round loss to Yuliia Starodubtseva 6-1, 6(4)-7(7), 2-6. Despite being more dominant in her service game with seven aces to none and having a better win rate on her serves, Sakkari couldn’t fight of the Ukrainian’s comeback. The Greek got off to a hot start but never recovered after losing the closely contested second set and fell away in the third. The match was almost a complete reverse of Sakkari’s first round match that saw her comeback from a poor start to win.
