Tuur Rommens compounds Rangers injury misery as Derek McInnes forced to intensify left back transfer trawl
The Belgian will be out for a number of weeks with a groins strain after news that Yussef Chermiti's season could be over
Rangers have been dealt another injury blow with Tuur Rommens now ruled out for a number of weeks with a groin strain.
And the news comes hot on the heels of confirmation that Yussef Chermiti is likely out for the season after injuring his ACL against Hibs at the weekend and will require surgery.
The Ibrox club are hopeful that Rommens' absence will be weeks rather than months, according to the Rangers Review, although he will miss the crucial Europa League third round qualifying second leg clash against Jagiellonia Bialystok on Wednesday night.
And he's now facing a race against time to be fit for the first Old Firm clash of the season on September 20.
Rommens is the only recognised senior left back in Derek McInnes' squad and he'll be forced into the transfer market to source a replacement.
Teenage prospect Ashton Scally is highly rated but is also injured and hasn't trained, leaving Dujon Sterling as the most likely to deputise against Bialystok.
A potential return to Ibrox for Jayden Meghoma is on the cards. The defender spent last season on loan after being brought in from Brentford by Russell Martin and is in talks.
Former Hearts defender James Penrice is another under consideration, with AEK happy to let him leave if the deal is right.
Rangers are thought to prefer a loan while the Greek champions are seeking a permanent exit.
