Thu 03 Sep - Posted in Breaking News Time to read: 4mins John Eustace admitted his delight ahead of Saturday’s trip to London after Derby County’s deadline day additions and an away victory at Portsmouth. The Head Coach spoke to the media for the first time following the closure of the summer transfer window ahead of the Rams’ trip to the London Stadium to face West Ham United on Saturday (3pm kick-off). Eustace caught up with RamsTV after training on Thursday. I’m delighted. The club have worked their socks off to get some really good players in to help the group, which is what we wanted, and I think everyone's happy with the business. I think that it was always going to be late. Obviously, David was in demand. He made sure that he wanted to come back to Derby, and he feels this is his home. When a player speaks so highly of a football club and is determined to come back, I think it's important that, as long as we all feel he's the right fit, we try and push that as much as we can. I think his performances over last season improved. They got better. He got fitter, and I'm hoping now this season he really takes the league by storm. Mo's really direct, very quick. He can score goals as well, so it gives us another option in one of those forward areas. We're very light in that defensive area at the moment. So, Cash has come back to the football club where I know he's admired and loved by the fans. We're delighted that he's coming in to help the group. He's got good experience at this level, and he's certainly a leader as well. So, he's going to play a huge part in what we want to do going forward this season, I’m sure. It's been good. I think you look at the players we brought in. There are some really exciting signings now, and we've got to regroup. We've got to get the right chemistry between the players and get the right team that's going to be competitive week in, week out. I think it's really important for the boy to go out and get some men's football now. He's going away from England. He's going up to Scotland where he'll be left alone, and he'll be playing for a good team in Falkirk in the Scottish Premier League and getting really important experience, and hopefully he can come back and really help the football club when he comes back. Craig's in a bit of a bad way. He's had a scan on his knee. It doesn't look good. He's seeing a specialist tomorrow, so hopefully it won't be season-ending, but it's going to be a few months for him. I thought his performance on Tuesday was magnificent, and it really typified what he's all about, what the football club's all about. He's very loyal to this football club, and when he's asked to put that shirt on, he never lets you down. For the good times and the bad times, Fozz has always been here and come through it, and I thought Tuesday night, after a couple of not-so-good results, he rolled his sleeves up and led by example. Now we're going to lose him for a while. It's a blow. Trav is going to be missing for probably three or four weeks as well. Obviously, it's not as bad as what we all feared, which is great news. Again, it's really important over the course of this 46-game season that we keep as many of our good players as possible fit. Everyone’s going to be used throughout the season, so we don't want long-term injuries to anyone, and everyone will be needed for sure. I was delighted with the attitude of the group. Last Saturday's result wasn't what we wanted, of course, but the players that were out there on Saturday gave it their best - they gave it their all, but in those last 10 minutes, we were down to ten men. It didn't look good the way the game finished, so to come back at Portsmouth and really stick together and get that result was really pleasing. Over the course of the season, you end up where you always should end up, which is what I usually say, and the season shouldn't be judged on the first four, five, six games. It's over the course of the season we're going to grow, we're going to improve, we're going to get better, and I think Tuesday's performance overall just provided what we're all about. London Stadium
