Mohamed Salah has hinted he saw comparisons between Liverpool and Trabzonspor, hence signing for the Turkish club this summer. Salah made the surprise move to Trabzonspor earlier this summer after leaving Liverpool at the end of last season. Many had predicted that the Egyptian would continue in Europe, with the 34-year-old still highly regarded despite a difficult campaign at Anfield last year. Trabzonspor move Instead, he surprised many by making the move to Türkiye with Trabzonspor at the beginning of August. That was very much seen as a step down for a player who had regularly challenged for the Premier League and in the Champions League during his time at Liverpool. Why he would want the move was also among the debate. That, though, was somewhat answered when images saw him being treated like a King upon his arrival at the Turkish club. I know that being in a city where people are passionate about football is different from being in the capital or elsewhere. “I was instantly excited when I heard about Trabzonspor’s interest. Once I arrived, I also looked into various locations and the best food available. “After the reception at the airport and the stadium, the next day my Liverpool teammates called me. Szoboszlai and I are still talking. They said they’d never seen anything like it before.” The question now is whether Salah can create a similar legacy in Türkiye to the one he enjoyed in England.
