Luka Vuskovic: How Brighton convinced me to sign for them - but La Liga is my dream Brighton’s record £50m signing speaks to Derren Howard from Sussex World after the pre-season win against Roma Brighton's record £50m signing Luka Vuskovic believes this is the best place for him - for the time being at least. The Seagulls smashed their transfer record to land the 19-year-old Croatian as he joined from Tottenham last month on a five-year contract. Vuskovic impressed on his Amex Stadium debut as he played the first 45 minutes of Albion's pre-season 3-0 win against Serie A club Roma. The 6ft 3in centre back looked comfortable and composed alongside Olivier Boscagli at the heart of the defence and was replaced by skipper Lewis Dunk at halftime. It was good first outing for Vuskovic who will likely be in action once again this Saturday as Bologna provide the opposition for Albion's final pre-season tun-up at the Amex Stadium. Vuskovic: Brighton is the best step for me The former Spurs man had other transfer options this summer but once he heard Brighton were keen, his mind was quickly made up. "Because I think it's the best step for me in my career," said Vuskovic to Sussex World after the Roma victory. "It's one of the biggest machines in the world for producing young players, as we could see in the last years and that we will see in the future. "I think it's a top club, they showed me a top project and it was very simple." The defender can't wait to get started for Brighton as they prepare to compete in the Premier League and Conference League this season. Spain appeals to Vuskovic He did however admit that the Premier League is not the "biggest dream" and that La Liga really appeals to him. He told Sussex World: "I look forward to playing but it was not my biggest dream but it's the best league in the world of course and I'm more than happy to play my first game really soon and I'm really happy and let's say in some sort of club. "I never think of it as that," he added, when asked by Sussex World what was his biggest dream. "Maybe Spain because it's the most similar life, like in Croatia but I think for sure the Premier League is the best league in the world and I'm very proud that I'm here right now, that I'm playing in this league and that's it."
