Nottingham Forest have joined the race for Youssouf Fofana, with the Premier League side now making a contract offer to the AC Milan midfielder. Forest are the latest English club to move for the France international. Crystal Palace and Everton have recently made enquiries over a possible deal. Santi Aouna reports that Villarreal are another club to have put a contract proposal in front of Fofana. Several other sides are also showing interest. Nottingham Forest have gone a step further by making an offer directly to the player, according to Aouna. Everton and Crystal Palace have done the same. There is no suggestion yet that Forest have reached an agreement with Fofana or Milan. Their presence does, however, add another option for the 27-year-old. That could matter given Milan’s fairly reasonable demands. Aouna says the Serie A club want between €18m (£15.7m) and €20m (£17.4m) to sanction a departure. The upper end matches the figure reported in Italy over recent days. That has not stopped clubs testing the situation. NottinghamForest now appear to be doing more than simply gathering information. A contract offer suggests they are trying to establish whether the midfielder can be convinced by a move to the City Ground before tackling Milan. Milan’s €18-20m (£15.7m-£17.4m) valuation also leaves this as a relatively accessible deal for a Premier League club. The next question is whether Forest follow their contract proposal with an approach to the Rossoneri.
