Nottingham Forest’s time to move on from Feyenoord’s Givairo Read may have arrived, with the defender no longer considering a possible transfer. Journalist Joost Blaauwhof reports that the 20-year-old now appears to be fully focused on Feyenoord at this point in the summer. Nottingham Forest efforts Givairo Read has been heavily linked with a move away from the Dutch side for months after impressing for them last season. Roma were initially at the front of the queue for his signature as they sought to sign a new right-back this summer. Negotiations were held with Feyenoord over a deal, but the Dutch side’s demands of €33m plus stopped those from every progressing. They instead turned to a cheaper option in Nahuel Molina. That turnaround left the door open for Nottingham Forest, who have already made several bids this summer. They, though, were facing the same problems as Roma. Sport Witness have covered that extensively, with Feyenoord fully refusing to cooperate in transfer talks. Read stops transfer talk Read then hinted that a transfer had been abandoned too. He commented over the weekend indicating that his focus was now elsewhere. Now Blaauwhof adds to that. He reports that the youngster has seemingly put the topic of an exit to bed entirely. “Givairo Read looks set to stay at Feyenoord this summer,” he reported on X. “Sources close to the player confirm that the right-back is no longer considering a potential transfer. He has great confidence in Giovanni van Bronckhorst. His focus is entirely on competing for trophies with the Rotterdam club.” That, then, should put an end to Nottingham Forest’s hopes this summer. They’ve worked hard to try and make the deal for Read happen. But it is now increasingly clear that it won’t. Between Read’s comments and now this, it appears his agents have accepted a transfer is not happening. It’s time for them, and his suitors, to move on.
