Premier League club told they’d have more chance of winning title with Jose Mourinho than new boss Jamie O'Hara believes Manchester City would have 'more chance' of winning the Premier League with Jose Mourinho than Enzo Maresca. Maresca has the unenviable task of being Pep Guardiola's replacement following the Spaniard's decision to step away from his post. Guardiola had held the role since July 2016 and led City to a staggering six Premier League titles in that span. Why Manchester City could be Enzo Maresca's most difficult job yet The squad and, in many ways, the entire club, had been moulded to Guardiola's demands. But it's now Maresca's ship to steer in what is just his fourth senior managerial role, having previously led Parma, Leicester City and Chelsea. Maresca already has one league title in his trophy cabinet having steered the Foxes to Championship glory in 2024. Meanwhile, Mourinho, who is now back at Real Madrid, has three Premier League crowns to his name, all of which were won during his stints at Chelsea. And even though the man dubbed the 'Special One' has scooped up only one trophy since the 2021/22 campaign, O'Hara still holds him in extremely high regard. "If he was the Manchester City manager, I'd say Manchester City have got more chance of winning the league with Mourinho this season than with Maresca," O'Hara said on talkSPORT Drive. "He knows how to win. "If you put City with Mourinho up against Arteta's Arsenal, that's fireworks. I would love to see them go up against each other. "I think Maresca's not ready to win the league." As storied as Mourinho's managerial career has been, he has not won a league title in over a decade. Additionally, Roma's Conference League title in 2022 was the first trophy Mourinho had won since 2017. Despite the dearth of silverware, Mourinho is back dining at the top table thanks to Real Madrid. The 63-year-old was previously in charge of the Spanish giants for three years and coached the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Mesut Ozil. Although the trio have long since departed Real, Mourinho now has a new generation of Galacticos to work with, including Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior, who recently re-committed his future to the club. Mourinho's return to Real also marks a curious stage in his managerial career. The 63-year-old's last three roles were at Roma, Fenerbahce and Benfica. Jamie O'Hara names the Premier League managers Jose Mourinho is better than Yet Mourinho's reputation evidently still holds weight, so much so O'Hara believes he would instantly be among the top three Premier League managers if he were to return to the English top flight. "Unai Emery, I think is a top manager, but he's at Villa," O'Hara said. "In terms of manager, you'd have to put Arteta in the conversation. Not overall, but in terms of what he's done with Arsenal and the Champions League final, winning the league. "He's (Mourinho) a better manager than (Enzo) Maresca. He's a better manager than (Xabi) Alonso. He's a better manager than (Roberto) De Zerbi. He's a better manager than (Michael) Carrick." Mourinho will look to prove O'Hara correct when he properly begins his second stint at Real on August 22, as his side travel to Espanyol for their LaLiga season opener.
