Aydin’s contract with FC spanned two years, meaning his current deal is set to conclude at the end of 2026, and his future is now unclear. After the game on Merseyside, interim head coach Last revealed the prognosis on the prop’s injury, explaining: “He’s gone for the season, he’s done his PCL. “We’ll get that scanned, but he won’t feature again for us this season, which is a real shame for us because Yusuf is someone who plays good minutes for us. “He’s only recently back from a suspension and he was contributing to the team, but unfortunately, he’s picked up a PCL injury which means he won’t play any further part this year.” Aydin made his international bow for Turkey against Malta back in October 2019, before making his professional debut for hometown club Wakefield against Hull FC in a Super League clash 13 months later during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Trinity, KR and FC remain the only clubs he has ever been permanently contracted to, but his career has also seen him don a shirt on loan and/or dual-registration for York Knights, Sheffield Eagles, Leeds Rhinos and Featherstone Rovers. With his 2026 campaign now over, the prop will end the season sat on 105 career appearances, including his sole game on the international stage so far for Turkey – who he qualifies to represent via his heritage. Those 105 career appearances have seen him score five tries, with three of those coming in FC’s colours: including two this term having crossed the whitewash against both Salford RLFC in the Challenge Cup and Castleford Tigers in Super League.
