A few weeks ago, Clay Travis officially launched Sport & State, his new sports, culture, and politics venture. We’ve since learned a little more about who will be contributing and writing for the outlet. Now we’re learning more about the podcast component. On Wednesday, iHeartMedia announced that it was expanding its relationship with Travis to launch a new podcast network tied to Sport & State. The outlet features live digital shows from 8 a.m.to 6 p.m. ET, but no specifics were provided regarding the podcast network’s launch date or programming lineup. The media company is handling ad sales across Sport & State’s digital and web content. iHeart’s “renewed and expanded agreement” with Travis means he will also continue to co-host Premiere Networks’ nationally syndicated The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show, which is broadcast on 550 stations nationwide and the centerpiece of The Clay & Buck Podcast Network. “Clay Travis has built one of the most influential brands in news, talk, and sports across every platform, and we’re excited to continue and expand our partnership with him,” said Rich Bressler, President and Chief Operating Officer for iHeartMedia, in the press release. “From the continued success of The Clay & Buck Show to the growth of his podcast network and the launch of the Sport & State Podcast Network, this partnership reflects our shared commitment to delivering compelling content at scale and reaching audiences wherever they are.” State & Sport’s podcast network currently features five shows that air daily on weekdays: Hutton & Withrow, The Next Round, The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, The Clay Travis Show, and On Tilt. In his initial column with the new venture, Travis estimated that Sport & State would be “70% sports, 15% pop culture, and 15% where politics intersects with sports,” adding, “Most of the politics will come from me. These other shows aren’t designed to be political.” Earlier this week, it was announced that the Bet The Board podcast, hosted by Todd Fuhrman and Payne Insider, was coming to Sport & State. Former New York Times writer Karen Crouse, a 30-year sports media veteran, announced she was joining the outlet as well.
