Heading into the 2026 NFL season, there are some real question marks surrounding the availability of running back Ashton Jeanty for the Las Vegas Raiders.
He recently suffered an ankle injury and is now questionable for Week 1. But recently, during Klint Kubiak's Wednesday press conference, the Raiders head coach revealed some good news.
ESPN's Ryan McFadden shared that, when asked about Jeanty's status for Week 1 and whether he's optimistic he'll play, the Raiders head coach teased some good news with a smile and a one-word answer.
Raiders HC reveals good Ashton Jeanty Week 1 news
"When Klint Kubiak was asked if he felt optimistic about #Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty's availability for Week 1 vs. Miami, he smiled and simply said: 'Yes,'" McFadden shared.
This is a simple one-word response from Kubiak, but it coming with a smile makes the blunt response take on a whole new meaning.
It's a clear sign of confidence that Jeanty will be ready to suit up in Week 1 for the Raiders' opening game, with Kirk Cousins at quarterback, against the Miami Dolphins.
After posting 875 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 266 carries in his rookie season behind a terrible offensive line on a poor offense, there is significant optimism for Jeanty's production in 2026.

But this injury has been somewhat of a concern for the Raiders' running back. Though this update from Kubiak, in which he smiled while expressing optimism for Jeanty playing in Week 1, is a big positive sign for the Raiders.
While Mike Washington Jr. might see a bit more work to begin the season for the Raiders just to protect Jeanty a bit, having him on the field would still do wonders for this offense to begin the 2026 season.
Fortunately, it appears Jeanty has a real chance of playing in Week 1 against the Dolphins, with Kubiak's simple comment and smile that hint at Jeanty being good to go in Week 1.
