Tatsuki Seko will leave Stoke City with the club’s best wishes as Mark Robins paid tribute to a “top professional and a top, top person”.
The 28-year-old midfielder was left out of the squad after Stoke agreed a fee for the midfielder to return to Japan. He has played 75 times since joining the club two years ago.
Robins said: “I honestly love him, I love him. He’s a top professional, a top, top person and I wish him all the best. He’s been available for every game, I think, and nearly every training session but we have to make room and I think that he and his family are quite happy at this stage of his life to make the next step for them. He goes with our best wishes and thanks.”
Seko is the third midfielder to leave Stoke since the end of last season, joining Lewis Baker and Steven Nzonzi on the way out. It remains to be seen if Ben Pearson – who was an unused sub against Oldham on Saturday – can force his way up the pecking order or will seek game time elsewhere too.

Robins handed debuts to three midfielders in the Carabao Cup first round, starting Ethan Galbraith and Svante Ingelsson and throwing on Djibril Soumare in the second half.
Stoke remain in the market for new signings but will manage the squad too in the weeks running up to deadline day.
Robins, when asked if he was close to any further arrivals, said: “I honestly don’t know but we will work as we will. We will be in tomorrow (Sunday) and then we’ll build into the game next week.”
