Every Monday Baseball Musings compares the offense of the current season to the previous season through the same number of weeks. Through twenty two weeks, MLB games produced 8.93 runs per game versus 8.91 runs per game in 2025. The two seasons cannot be more even. That’s made up by walks being up from 6.4 per game to 6.7 per game, with a slight rise in hit by pitches as well. The overall rise of 23.74 batters earning their way on to 23.98 batters earning their way on led to the small increase in runs. Last week produced 8.71 runs per game, same as the previous week and the sixth straight week before 9.0 runs per game. A decrease of 0.4 BABIP hits per game was made up by an increase of 0.4 Walks per game. Week 22 tends to be a strong offensive week, but 2026 came in well below the others tracked since 2015.
