Huddersfield Giants have confirmed that hooker Cole Geyer has returned to Oldham RLFC with immediate effect, ending his time in Claret and Gold. Geyer has been an excellent pick-up for the Roughyeds, having impressed in the majority of games he has played. Scoring two tries in Friday’s win over Leigh Leopards, the Australian has combined incredibly well with fellow nine Zac Woolford at the club. Geyer joined the club in May, and has made 13 appearances. However, having only signed on loan, Oldham held a recall option, which they have now activated. It means that the 24-year-old now returns to the Roughyeds ahead of the Championship play-offs. Oldham take on Widnes Vikings in round one of the revised format, with the winners taking on either London Broncos or Newcastle Thunder the following week. With Huddersfield now without a back-up hooker, they have opted to recall Kieran Rush from his season-long loan at Halifax Panthers. He remains out of contract for 2027, so he now has a second chance of earning a new deal. Commenting on his Roughyeds return, Geyer said: “It feels good to be back at Oldham with the lads, and I’m now looking forward to finishing the year strong and hopefully winning it all in a couple of weeks. “I really enjoyed my time the first time round – the boys made me feel welcome and made it an easy transition to move over from home. “Being at Huddersfield was great, I enjoyed the challenge of playing Super League week in week out, and I learnt a lot from all the staff. “I have kept an eye on the Oldham results and stayed in contact with many of the lads, so it was good to see them finish the year well. “I’m confident we can really shake the finals up.”
