Matthias Jaissle reveals Nick Pope meeting as crunch Newcastle United decision looms The Newcastle United shot-stopper has seen Lukas Hornicek and Ewen Jaouen arrive this summer Newcastle United new boss Matthias Jaissle has dropped a big hint that it could be the end of the road for Nick Pope at St James' Park. Pope has watched on as Lukáš Horníček arrived from SC Braga last week with his own position in the squad weakened by his arrival. It leaves Pope effectively as number three with Ewen Jaouen already assured he will the club's back-up. Pope failed to win a move to Ipswich Town or Leeds United earlier this summer and while he would have had a chance to fight on under Eddie Howe, Jaissle's view on the star seems to be different. I really appreciate what he did in his career so far. "He knows exactly the situation right now and we need to deal with it in the best possible way, but I always appreciate the player and the human being behind." Jaissle may now look to sign another goalkeeper if Pope does find a club between now and the end of the window. Pope trained this week in La Manga but will spend time with his representatives looking for a new challenge. Reflecting on the win and the debut of Hornicek, Jaissle said: "Winning games always helps to gain confidence. We also knew that we had a hard week behind us.
