Zilla Fatu was hoping to move on from his disappointing night at NXT Heatwave, but his attempt to look ahead was soon interrupted on WWE NXT. Fatu opened the September 1 episode by talking about his failed attempt to win the NXT Championship at Heatwave. The recently debuted star admitted that he expected to leave the event with the title, but things didn’t go his way. Before Fatu could say much more, rising NXT star Tristan Angels interrupted proceedings and had some harsh words for him. Zilla Fatu & Tristan Angels set for WWE NXT showdown after heated exchange Angels mocked Fatu and claimed that NXT fans were already getting tired of seeing him. Things then became more personal when he took a shot at Fatu’s family lineage. “It seems that the further down the Bloodline we go, the less talent we find,” he told Fatu. The situation quickly heated up, with Fatu challenging his rival to a match. The challenge was accepted, but the argument soon turned physical. Zilla Fatu went after Angels with the Samoan Spike. However, Angels escaped through the ropes before Fatu could connect. Later during the match between Naraku and Siloh Hill, the singles match between Fatu and Angels was announced. Angels started the match by trying to frustrate the bigger Fatu. He used his quick offense to gain an early advantage. Fatu responded by delivering hard strikes and eventually sending Angels out of the ring. The match picked up more pace when Angels used the referee as a distraction. He crotched Fatu and then hit him with an enzuigiri, sending Fatu crashing to the floor. Despite being bloodied, Fatu seemed to feed off the punishment. After driving Angels into several turnbuckles, Fatu hit a big lariat. He followed that with a Rock Bottom and a running senton. Angels managed to kick out of the pin attempt and fought back with a lungblower. Zilla Fatu took control again with a pop-up Samoan drop. With Angels struggling to get back to his feet, Fatu hit the Triple Z. That was enough for Fatu to score the victory. After the match, Birth Right came to the stage and tried to recruit Fatu into their group. They also brought up Fatu’s Bloodline connections. The group suggested that it was only a matter of time before Fatu joined Roman Reigns, The Usos, Jacob Fatu, and Solo Sikoa. Fatu responded with “Hell No!” When Lexis King tried to stop Fatu from leaving, Fatu dropped him with a superkick and walked away.
