The New Level made an immediate impact at AEW All In, but their jump from WWE to AEW has also sparked plenty of discussion. WWE Hall of Famer Booker T recently weighed in on Kofi and Austin Creed’s decision, offering a perspective shaped by his own experience in the wrestling business. Kofi and Creed, formerly known as Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods in WWE, arrived as the surprise wildcard entrants during the Trios Roulette Royale. They teamed with Swerve Strickland and went on to win the match, capturing the AEW World Trios Championship on their debut. The move came after The New Level left WWE earlier this year. Reports stated that the duo had been asked to accept a pay cut of 50%, leading them to refuse contract extensions. Kofi later revealed that WWE had actually requested a reduction greater than 50%. Booker T addressed the move on his “Hall of Fame” podcast and made it clear that he doesn’t believe the former New Day members were ready to walk away from wrestling. Booker T praises The New Level’s AEW move “I think New Day still got a lot left in the tank. I don’t think those guys was ready to quit or anything like that,” Booker proclaimed. He then pointed to the financial realities of professional wrestling while praising their opportunity in AEW. “And they still not just want, in life we got to make money, alright? It’s just part of the ecosystem,” Booker explained. “Big up to those guys for getting a spot in over there and continuing doing what they’re doing.” The WWE Hall of Famer also discussed AEW’s recent additions, including the Motor City Machine Guns and Britt Baker’s return. He credited Tony Khan for continuing to make moves that can attract attention. “It was inevitable … Tony Khan is not leaving anything on the table right now. I mean he’s trying to move the needle, and if you’re smart that’s what you try to do,” Booker said. The New Level already has championship gold around their waists, and their appearance alongside other major tag teams at All In suggested there could be more in store.
