For years, Gene Autry brought in aging stars with little success. They were the franchise that allowed people who moved to California to see their old home team. They did post a very good run early in the century, winning their only World Series, but they are also the franchise that could not turn themselves into contenders despite employing two of the greatest players of the last 15 years. Moreno seemed uninterested in the club the last few years. He also got caught up in government scandals as he tried to develop the area around the park. We’ll see if Kroenke makes a difference.
