Katie Taylor is set to weigh in at Trinity before her final fight against Flora Pili. The ceremonial weigh-in will take place on Front Square this Friday, at 6pm. Tickets to see the pair weigh in have sold out.
The retirement fight will determine if Katie Taylor becomes a three-time undisputed champion. This will not come easy, however, as Flora Pili enters the fight unbeaten at 12-0 with two wins by knockout. The sold-out fight will take place in Croke Park this Saturday.
In June this year, Taylor received an honorary degree in Legal studies from Trinity, recognising her as having “a legitimate claim to be[ing] Ireland’s greatest ever sporting champion”.
Students and visitors should expect restrictions around Front Campus on Friday between 2.30pm and 7.30pm. In addition, the Front Gate, Library Square, and the 1937 reading room will be closed during these hours. The rest of the campus will remain open.
According to the Head of Strategic Hospitality, Jenny Walsh, all revenue created by the event will be reinvested into the “University’s academic mission, teaching and research programmes, and development projects”.
