AC Milan’s new signing Omari Hutchinson has described his move as ‘crazy’ and ‘a dream’, and he cannot wait to get going. Milan were linked with countless attacking midfielders in the weeks prior, but in the end the name they signed came a bit out of nowhere. The 22-year-old shone for Ipswich Town before his big money move to Nottingham, where he didn’t really hit the ground running in his debut season. A fresh start awaits and the Rossoneri hope that Hutchinson can be a success story. He spoke to Milan TV to answer a few questions about making the switch to San Siro, the way he likes to play, his idols in sport and more. What was it like when Milan called? “It’s crazy, a dream. When a club as big as AC Milan knocks on your door, it’s incredible. My father always told me about the champions who wore these colours, and being part of it now is fantastic.” Have you spoken with the coach? “I spoke to Amorim, and the first thing he told me on the phone was that I’d scored against him in England. I smiled and apologized, of course. He told me that now I’ll have to do it for him. He gave me interesting and positive feelings, and I want to work well with him.” What are your characteristics? “I like having the ball and getting to the goal as quickly as possible, as well as entertaining the fans. I hope to do well for Milan, score, and celebrate with a backflip.” You have already met Andrea Pirlo… “It was crazy with Pirlo. I was on vacation with my family and he was with his, we were in Spain. I got out of the car and asked him for a photo, then we talked for a few minutes about the team I played for. “It’s incredible how there are so many legends at AC Milan. I really liked Kaká, Robinho, and Ronaldinho…” Kobe Bryant is your idol, another Milanista… “I have Kobe Bryant’s cell phone wallpaper, he’s a source of inspiration for me. I watch his videos on Tik Tok and his interviews on YouTube trying to put into practice what he said and his teachings.”
