Alex Livesey/Getty Images Stoke City are blocking Million Manhoef’s departure for now as the club do not want to let go of the winger this late in the transfer window, despite concrete interest from the MLS. Manhoef joined the Potters during the winter transfer window of 2024, signing a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Championship side. The Dutchman quickly established himself as an important player for Stoke City and consistently featured for them across all competitions. The 24-year-old scored seven goals and provided three assists in 45 Championship appearances for the Potters last season. With the player entering the final year of his contract, the winger has been attracting transfer market interest. It was recently suggested that the Dutchman was attracting concrete interest from the MLS and could depart from Stoke City before the transfer window shuts. However, with fresh developments emerging, according to Dutch journalist Joost Blaauwhof, Stoke City are now blocking Manhoef’s departure as they do not want to let go of the winger this late in the transfer window. | Team | Year | Points | |---|---|---| | Reading (C) | 2005–06 | 106 | | Sunderland (C) | 1998-99 | 105 | | Newcastle United (C) | 2009–10 | 102 | | Leicester City (C) | 2013–14 | 102 | | Fulham (C) | 2000–01 | 101 | | Burnley (C) | 2022–23 | 101 | The Potters’ start to the new Championship season has been very poor as they have lost all three games they have played. Stoke City will not want to let go of their key player, with Sorba Thomas also likely to leave the club for Hull City. The Tigers are in talks to sign Thomas before the window closes and the move is one the winger wants to make. Losing Manhoef as well as Thomas would be a massive blow for the Potters to handle, especially amid a poor start to the campaign. A move to the Premier League is one that Manhoef has admitted he dreams of making, but it appears he does not have any Premier League suitors for now.
