Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade has just landed in Turin ahead of undergoing a medical with Juventus.
Journalist Gianluca di Marzio provides video footage of the 24-year-old arriving in the Italian city ahead his move to the Serie A giants.
He reports that the Newcastle striker arrived at Caselle airport today and will immediately head to his Juventus medical before finalising his contract with the Italian club.
Loan agreement in place
Di Marzio reports that Newcastle and Juventus struck an agreement for the German striker yesterday afternoon.
That will be an ‘onerous’ loan – so a paid loan – worth €5m. There will be no right to buy the striker included in the deal.
The move is being pushed on deadline day after the striker agreed to the deal on Monday evening. He had previously suggested that he would not be leaving Newcastle this summer.
Indeed, Sport Witness have covered several reports over the course of the summer insisting as much. For example, a report last week insisted that Newcastle had outright rejected an approach from Nottingham Forest.
A report in Germany then explained how Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle was forming a solid relationship with the striker after things had deteriorated under Eddie Howe.
Transfer turnaround
Sport Witness also received exclusive information from a source close to the player insisting that he’d not asked to leave the club. At that point, Newcastle had not spoken to the player about a move away.
Now it appears that things have changed, and rapidly. A loan deal with Juventus has been quickly agreed. Once that was done yesterday, Nick Woltemade himself approved in the evening, and things have progressed since then.
Now he’s in Turin and heading for his medical. He will be assessed by Juventus’ medical team before signing his contract for a one-year loan deal with the Italian side.
