Everton have (finally) reached an agreement with Manchester City to bring Jack Grealish back to Merseyside on a season-long loan. David Ornstein of The Athletic reported overnight that the two clubs have agreed a deal, with the 30-year-old due to undergo a medical on Tuesday morning. Several clubs are understood to have enquired about Grealish, but Everton were the only side prepared to meet City’s terms. Fabrizio Romano has since given the move his familiar “here we go”, with Grealish giving the green light to a return as Everton close in on their man. Grealish return now close It represents a significant Deadline Day breakthrough for David Moyes. Grealish made a considerable impression during his loan spell with Everton last season, scoring twice and providing six assists before a foot injury brought his campaign to a premature end. A return has remained on the agenda throughout the summer, despite interest from elsewhere and Grealish featuring for City during the opening weeks of the new season. Now, though, the picture appears clear. The England international was left out of City’s squad for Friday night’s 4-1 victory at Crystal Palace and, barring a late hitch, is set to spend another season at Hill Dickinson Stadium. There should also be less uncertainty for Grealish this time around. He knows Moyes, his teammates and the club, while his performances before injury last season showed what he can offer when fit. The medical remains the next important step, but after weeks of speculation over a possible return, Everton have finally reached the agreement needed to bring Grealish back.
