'The new manager has come in with a lot of fire' - Marshall Munetsi in Portugal Munetsi is back at Wolves after spending the second half of last season on loan at Paris FC. Marshall Munetsi is back at Wolves feeling buoyed by the ‘fire’ and ‘energy’ shown by new boss Cesar Peixoto. Munetsi, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Paris FC in France, has joined up with Wolves for their pre-season camp in Portugal. And the 30-year-old Zimbabwe international says it is clear what this season’s ambition is. “When I first signed here the main objective was to stay in the Premier League and last season we were not able to do that,” he said. “The objective for the club now is getting back, and the chairman has made it clear to all the players that this is the ambition of the club, and the club deserves to be in the top flight. “The new manager has come in with a lot of fire, and it’s been seen with the training sessions. “Everybody’s really working hard to make sure that when the season starts we'll be ready to put this club back where it deserves.” Munetsi has experience of Peixoto’s teams from watching them in Portugal - and believes the new boss will be a good fit for the Championship, despite having no previous experience of English football. “When he was in Portugal, he was managing two of my former team-mates, so I used to watch a couple of his games,” said Munetsi. “The way he plays, there's a lot of intensity – a lot of energy comes from his team, and this is exactly what we need in the Championship. “You can already feel the energy that he has, putting things into place that will put us in a better position to win games. “This is something you could see from the first day and now you can see his game model, his plans, how he wants the team to be connected, the discipline, and everything that you need as a team to progress.” Munetsi signed for Wolves in February 2025, helping them to stay in the Premier League under Vitor Pereira - but endured a difficult start to last season, which eventually led to his loan away. With his confidence restored, he is determined to add to the 31 appearances he made before heading to Paris. “It was good to get back to the person that I was before the difficult start that I had last season,” he said, before adding: “The best attribute for any player, besides talent, is confidence. “When you're confident, you're able to do anything, even if you shoot from 40 yards out, if you're confident, you can score. “That was the greatest thing for me, to get that confidence again.
