The August 31 episode of WWE RAW ended with a match with massive ramifications as Penta and Rey Fenix faced each other in the finals of the World Heavyweight Championship No. 1 Contender’s Tournament. The two real-life brothers stepped into the ring for their first WWE singles match. The winner would earn a shot at reigning World Heavyweight Champion “The OTC” Roman Reigns. After a fast-paced fight filled with impressive counters, big dives and several close pinfalls, one brother finally came out on top. Penta defeats Rey Fenix to earn WWE World Heavyweight Title match The match started with both men going for early pin attempts and trying to gain control. Fenix got the first big advantage with a hurricanrana before heading to the ropes for another high-flying move. Penta stopped him by dropping Fenix onto the apron and following it up with a Tope. Fenix answered with an Adios Amigo kick and a corkscrew splash that sent Penta crashing to the floor. Once they got back into the ring, Fenix hit a handspring cutter for a near fall and later hit spinning wheel kicks. Penta fired back with a superkick in the corner and a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker that almost ended the match. Neither man could stay in control for long. Fenix avoided a Mexican Destroyer on the apron before hitting a big moonsault. Penta also survived a Backstabber in the corner for another two-count. One of the biggest moments came when Penta launched his brother into a huge front-flip drop powerbomb. The move looked like it could have finished the match, but Fenix somehow kicked out. The final moments of the match began. Penta went for the Destroyer, but Fenix escaped and answered with a kick. Fenix then tried to hit the Mexican Musclebuster, but Penta slipped out and connected with the Penta Driver. Once again, Fenix refused to stay down. Fenix eventually rolled out of the ring toward the announce desk. Penta followed him and drove him through the desk with another Penta Driver. Fenix somehow made it back into the ring and kicked out of the following pin attempt. Penta then hit a Sacrifice and went for the Destroyer again. Fenix countered with a hurricanrana pin, but Penta kicked out at two. That gave Penta the opening he needed. He quickly hit the Mexican Destroyer and finally got the three-count.
