It's understood that Methalie is keen on a move to Wearside, with the framework of a five-year deal in place. However, the two clubs remain locked in negotiations over a fee with the Ligue 1 club eager to bank an even greater fee than the roughly €30 million deal (including add-ons) that saw young striker Emersonn move to Ipswich Town earlier this summer. In an interview with French outlet RMC, Cloarec said the club did not want to sell Methalie but that at a certain point the offer would be too good for the club to refuse. "Dayann is one of the players who are very much in demand this summer, as well as others," he said. "We talk a lot about Dayann, but there are others who are very much in demand too. There are discussions with Sunderland and interest from others club. Today, we are discussing with Sunderland but there is no agreement between the two clubs. "We've been discussing with Sunderland for three or four weeks so Dayann's starting amount has been fixed for three weeks and a month," he added.
