The Daily Breeze’s high school football Top 10 rankings as teams head into the Week 2 games. FOOTBALL TOP 10 1. Palos Verdes 2-0 Ryan Rakowski completed 15 of 17 passes for 306 yards and three touchdowns a 21-18 win over Bishop Moore last week. Jalen Flowers turned in another big day, catching a touchdown pass, intercepting two passes and recording 10 tackles. This week: at Carson, Thursday 2. Serra 1-1 A.J. McBean got the Serra offense on track with 135 rushing yards and three touchdowns in a 49-12 win over Hamilton last week. Freshman quarterback Hassir Houston completed 9 of 11 passes for 94 yards and two touchdowns. This week: at Los Alamitos, Friday 3. Carson 2-0 Chris Fields III was involved in three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) in Carson’s 31-8 win over Dorsey. Tytus Salagi rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown. This week: vs. Palos Verdes, Thursday 4. Inglewood 1-1 The Sentinels came up short in their game in Texas, losing to Westlake 33-26. Lincoln Jahn completed 18 of 28 passes for 281 yards and three touchdowns. Inglewood received a big boost with the return of defensive lineman Elija Harmon, who missed last season with a meniscus injury. This week: at Highland, Ariz., Friday 5. Redondo Union 2-0 Rocky Martinez rushed for 157 yards and Brady Grow threw a pair of touchdown passes to Tyler Harper in a 35-14 win over Torrance last week. Cooper Burns led the defense with 10 tackles. This week: at Culver City, Friday 6. Torrance 1-1 Isaac Mora and Brandon Perez each hauled in touchdown passes from Gibson Turner in a loss to Redondo last week. This week: vs. Northview at Zamperini Stadium, Friday 7. San Pedro 2-0 Jaxon Brown had three rushing touchdowns in San Pedro’s 42-28 win over West Torrance last week. This week: vs. Westchester, Thursday 8. Mira Costa 0-2 Jack Strosnider had 13 tackles in Mira Costa’s 31-10 loss to Crean Lutheran. Wyatt Nucci had a rushing touchdown. This week: vs. Loyola, Friday 9. Mary Star 1-0 Mahki Huff rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-0 win over Valley Christian last week. This week: vs. North Torrance, Friday 10. Banning 1-1 Noa Tuvalu completed 18 of 20 passes for 298 yards and three touchdowns in a 44-0 win over Huntington Park. Isaac Flores rushed for 102 yards and three touchdowns. Banning is 2-0 on the field, but had to forfeit its season-opening win against South East due to an ineligible player.
