Toulouse are believed to be seeking an improvement on that fee to sell Mathalie, who is widely regarded as one of the best prospects in French football after a breakout campaign in which made 31 competitive appearances. According to L’Equipe, Sunderland’s initial bid of around £17 million has therefore fallen short of the valuation and talks are ongoing as a result. Left back is a key area of focus for Sunderland in the current window following Dennis Cirkin’s departure earlier this summer, leaving Reinildo as the only senior left back in Régis Le Bris’s squad as things stand.
