With Deadline Day fast approaching, the crazy rush for deals to get over the line will start to get even more frantic. Closing at 11pm on Tuesday 1 September, football clubs up and down the United Kingdom will be rushing around and hoping to get deals over line that will change the course of their entire season. Preston North End are no different, after a disastrous start as they lost their opening three league games, the need for quality is desperate. With links to Alan Browne and Cameron Archer intensifying, it seems that North End have turned their attention to another striker. Peter O’Rourke has reported that the Lancashire club are in talks to sign Fulham’s Jonah Kusi-Asare on a season-long loan. The 19-year old originally joined ‘The Cottagers’ on loan last season from Bayern Munich, as part of a permanent move this summer, scoring four in five in the Premier League 2 and making seven appearances in the Premier League under Marco Silva. With a path to the first team seemingly not present at the moment, the Swedish forward is exploring a loan move in search for game time to realise his development. At six-foot-five, Kusi-Asare has a lot of qualities that would fit well in the Championship: his physicality, strength, ball-carrying, and technical ability ticks a lot of boxes for a modern centre-forward. Initially coming through at IF Brommapojkarna, he moved to AIK in 2023 before being scouted by Bayern Munich in 2024, where he would remain for a year until Fulham brought him in on loan with a view to permanent. He’s highly thought of in West London, so a view for a permanent deal is thought to be off the table for PNE, as they explore a straight loan deal for the season. Vital Football understands that this isn’t an alternative for Cameron Archer, who seems to be hit an obstacle in regards to his wages, with the club hoping to add both to their ranks.
