LAHORE - Pakistan’s U-17 volleyball team returned home to a warm welcome at Allama Iqbal Interna-tional Airport after securing a historic fifth-place finish at the World U-17 Volleyball Championship in Doha, Qatar. The national side produced an impressive campaign among 20 participating teams, achieving Pakistan’s best-ever fifth position in the championship. Pakistan Volleyball Federation President Sohail Khawar Mir, along with other officials, welcomed the players and praised their performance. He said Pakistan possessed immense volleyball talent, particularly in Lahore, Sialkot, Fai-salabad and Narowal, but urged the provision of international-standard facilities. Head coach Kifayatullah expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, saying the players had competed suc-cessfully against some of the world’s best sides. Captain Muhammad Irfan also called for greater government support, saying improved facilities and training could help Pakistan challenge for a world title in the future.
