Despite the Seattle Seahawks being impressed with Trevon Diggs and getting acclimated to the team, the franchise has decided to cut the cornerback in an effort to finalize its 53-man roster. As Diggs got his first interception with the Seahawks in the preseason finale against the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday, which ended in a 9-9 tie, he will be released, though there is a catch to the move. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Seattle will cut Diggs, but there is a plan from the team to “bring him back” and sign him to the practice squad. “The Seahawks released CB Trevon Diggs, but plan to bring him back on the practice squad, per source,” Pelissero wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Diggs would sign with the Seahawks earlier this month in training camp, with the team looking to add depth to the cornerback room and secondary in general. After recording the interception in the first quarter of the aforementioned preseason finale against the Chiefs, head coach Mike Macdonald would praise Diggs, saying he has “really come up to speed” with the team. “He has really come up to speed, and that is really saying something,” Macdonald said, via HawkMania. “The players are doing a great job catching him up. Though Diggs would be cut by Seattle, there could be a good chance he comes back, as the team does have interest in signing him to the practice squad.
