Veteran wide receiver Braxton Berrios won’t be on the Giants’ initial 53-man roster, but he will reportedly be back with the team in September. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Giants will release Berrios on Sunday. He adds that the Giants plan to bring him back for their first game. Berrios is a vested veteran, so he is not subject to waivers. He could re-sign with the Giants after they make other roster moves in the coming days or he could sign to the practice squad and be elevated to play against the Cowboys in Week 1. Berrios signed with the Giants after Gunner Olszewski tore his Achilles during the team’s offseason program and was listed as the top punt returner on the team’s preseason depth chart.
