The draw will take place on Monday, August 10 at around 7.20pm, before the final first-round game between Plymouth Argyle v Exeter City. The draw will be shown live on Sky Sports, hosted by David Prutton and conducted by Jobi McAnuff and Jamie Mackie. Though not yet confirmed by the EFL, previous draws have also been shown live on Youtube too. When will the Carabao Cup second-round games be played? The ties will be played in the week commencing Monday, August 24, with games likely to be played on Tuesday, August 25 and Wednesday, August 26. For Boro, that’s in between the first away game of the season at Blackburn, and the home clash with West Brom. Who can Boro face? The draw is still regionalised into Northern and Southern sections for round two, which means Boro will face a side in the northern half of the country. Which teams fall into that half will not be finalised until after the majority of first-round games are completed. The 11 Premier League sides not competing in Europe this season will enter the competition at this stage. Brentford, Chelsea, Fulham, Tottenham and Ipswich will be in the south side of the draw while Newcastle United, Leeds United, Hull City, Nottingham Forest and Everton will almost certainly be in the Northern Section. What’s not clear yet is if the teams in the Northern side of the first-round draw will stay that way, or if the Northern and Southern sections will be redrawn for the second round. Birmingham City, for example, have beaten Swansea to progress to round two. If they stay in the Southern section, Coventry City will have to go in the Northern section, despite being further south.
