Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese has thrived since being traded from the Chicago Sky over the offseason. In her first season with the Dream, Reese has helped Atlanta clinch a playoff spot and broken the WNBA record for rebounds in a game with 26. She’s also already broken the league’s single-season rebounding record. While she has already made quite the case as the best rebounder in league history, her offensive output has been inconsistent. She’s certainly shown flashes, but overall her efficiency in scoring has left much to be desired. Still, that didn’t stop her former head coach, Teresa Weatherspoon, from praising her shooting improvement as an analyst for NBA TV. Weatherspoon praised the increase in Reese’s shooting volume, including from the three-point line. “This is a level of confidence that you see in her because now she’s shooting,” Weatherspoon said. From last season, her field-goal percentage has dropped from 45.8% to 43.5%, and her three-point percentage from 18.2% to 18.0%. Fans on social media were not shy about letting Weatherspoon hear it for her coverage of Reese’s so-called “improvement.” “This is one of the most insane segments I have ever seen. While it’s great that Reese is showing confidence, the reality is that if she can’t improve her efficiency, that confidence is misplaced and may end up doing Atlanta more harm than good.
