After leaving Sunderland, striker Eliezer Mayenda has insisted he is feeling confident this is just the beginning. Ouest-France have an interview with the 21-year-old today after Stade Rennais formally presented him to the media. Sunderland exit The newspaper reports that Eliezer Mayenda was presented to the media by Stade Rennais on Friday at Roazhon Park, alongside Bryan Reynolds. The newspaper names hims as the ‘most intriguing’ of the six arrivals at the French side so far as he represents that profile targeted by Sporting Director Loïc Désiré and the club’s biggest investment this summer. Indeed, he stands as their most expensive signing ever by some distance. He now has something to prove, particularly after a disappointing season at Sunderland in which he played a bit part at best in their return to the Premier League. The transfer fee does not concern him, though. Instead, he’s confident of the qualities that he can bring. “I don’t really think about the transfer fee,” he said. “I know I’m a player with a lot of quality. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here (smiling). The price tag is simply a reflection of the faith Rennes has placed in me. What we saw at Sunderland is just the beginning of something. I want to keep working to achieve much more.” Sunderland job done People might raise eyebrows at him leaving Sunderland. That’s especially the case when the Black Cats are set to embark on a European adventure this season. Mayenda, though, considers his job at the Stadium of Light as done. “After three seasons, I felt—so to speak—that my job was done. We had succeeded in restoring the club to its rightful place,” he added. “When I heard about Rennes’ interest, I was very keen to come. I felt it was time for me to move on from Sunderland.”
