FC Barcelona have had quite a busy summer transfer window so far, and their work is not finished even yet as only three days remain in the transfer window. The Blaugranes have brought in several new players, including the likes of Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, Rodri Hernandez, and Joao Cancelo, to strengthen their team for the new season. Meanwhile, the Catalans have also seen several players leave. In fact, SPORT notes that if Marc Casado ends up leaving Barcelona before the end of the transfer window for €20 million, the club would gain €120 million from direct sales, percentages from former players, and solidarity mechanisms, thus making this summer the most lucrative one since the return of Joan Laporta as the president in 2021. Around half of this money has come from a single operation, namely, the departure of Ferran Torres for Paris Saint-Germain in exchange for €48.5 million. The rest of the income has come from the departure of La Masia-trained players. Ansu Fati brought in €11 million, the same amount as Tommy Marques, while Inaki Pena brought in another €3 million. Andres Cuenca and Dani Rodriguez also brought in minor amounts, i.e., €700,000 and €600,000 respectively. Hector Fort, who has already completed his transfer to Real Sociedad, brought in around €8.5 million. Alvaro Cortes is expected to leave, and bring in around €3 million from his transfer, while Tony Fernandez is close to joining Venezia for around €4 million. Adding another €20 million which is expected from Marc Casado’s sale, the total reaches around €110 million from these direct sales. Furthermore, Barcelona have also earned €4.8 million from Jan Virgili’s transfer from Mallorca to Brugge, because of the rights they had kept on the player. Meanwhile, another €4 million has come from FIFA Solidarity Mechanism, for the transfers of their former academy players like Nico Gonzalez, Marc Cucurella, Alejandro Grimaldo and Sergi Altimira. Other transfers like those of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Robert Lewandowski, and Ronald Araujo have not brought in any income for Barcelona, but these have still been important as they have allowed the club to significantly lower their wage bill. Thus, overall, this has been a very good transfer window for the Blaugranes, not only because of the new signings, but also because of the departures.
