(LEAD) Centenarian athlete grabs 2 golds at Daegu WMAC (ATTN: ADDS details, remarks, photo) DAEGU, Aug. 29 (Yonhap) -- Sawang Janpram, the oldest competitor taking part in the World Masters Athletics Championships (WMAC) under way in the southern South Korean city of Daegu, won another gold medal Saturday, grabbing two golds at the event. The Thai athlete, 106, won the gold medal in the men's 400-gram javelin throw for competitors aged 100 and older. He threw 10.04 meters on his first attempt. The win comes just two days after he won a gold in the 1-kilogram discus throw for competitors aged 100 and older by throwing 7.59 m, setting an amateur world record in the category. With the latest medals, Janpram has now won 80 medals since he began exercising at age 80 and entered his first sporting competition at 97. Speaking to the press in a special interview organized by the WMAC committee, the Thai athlete said it was very meaningful to compete, calling it a joyous time. He also said his next goal is to compete in a major track competition scheduled to take place in Thailand in 2027. "Health is something that is very important," he said. "I hope young people remember this and exercise every day." Janpram and his daughter and coach Siripan, 74, are among the more than 11,000 participants from 106 countries taking part in WMAC Daegu.
