Memo Gidley extended his points lead with an eighth win in nine GT America powered by AWS races this season, following another controlling run Saturday at Road America. The SKI Autosports driver took his No. 56 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II to a 2.351-second victory over Tony Davis’ No. 04 HP-TECH Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3, who made a late-race charge and set the race’s fastest lap in the process. Lawrence Tomlinson, who qualified fourth overall in his Team LNT Ginetta G56 GT2 but was gridded behind the SRO3 class, charged through the field in the opening laps to move into third overall by Lap 5. The Ginetta chairman recorded a season-best third place result, passing Scott Blind on the run up the hill to retake the position after a last-lap exchange. Blind in the No. 45 Ruckus Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo and the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche of Kyle Washington completed the overall top-five. Ross Chouest, who was forced to start from the rear of the 12-car starting field after stalling his No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R on the grid, worked his way up to sixth at the finish, passing Mirco Schultis for position with 16 minutes to go. Maro Muzzo in the No. 013 R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari also passed Schultis’ Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R, who came home seventh and eighth, respectively. David Musial Sr., who had an early race spin, finished ninth, ahead of Tony Ferraro, who faced a three-position grid penalty for taking an additional checkered flag in qualifying. David Lecko, in a Team LNT-owned spare Ginetta GTP8 chassis, completed the 40-minute contest, rebounding from his accident on Friday, while Craig Lumsden brought up the rear in his lone GT4 class BMW M4 GT4 EVO from Colorado Motorsport with Flying Lizard.
