Mohamed Toure scored a quick-fire brace to lead Norwich City to their first win of the EFL Championship season as the Socceroos forward joined an exclusive club.
Toure had two goals by the 21st minute for Norwich, who were too strong for Burnley 4-1 at Carrow Road on Sunday (AEST).
The 22-year-old has been linked with a host of clubs during the transfer window, including Mohamed Salah’s Trabzonspor in Turkiye and Nestory Irankunda’s Sporting CP in Portugal, and the Australia international was back in the squad after being rested for the EFL Cup clash against Cardiff City midweek.
Toure scored his 10th and 11th goals in his 14th Championship appearance for Norwich since debuting in February – only Ivan Toney (10 apps), Jason Roberts, Diomansy Kamara, Marek Saganowski and Ross Stewart (all 13 matches) have hit double figures in fewer outings in the competition.
“It’s good we could rest him against Cardiff,” Norwich boss Philipp Clemente told reporters post-game.
“We need this rotation. We have 7 games in 22 days, with training in between and not many off days in between. It’s not possible so we will need all the squad for that.
“It’s not only about Mo, Andre (Brooks) or one player. It’s about everybody and every three days that every minute of the game we can go full power. That’s very important.”
Toure already has three goals in four matches across all competitions this season, including a goal and an assist in the EFL Cup.
