Cody Gakpo has decided to leave Liverpool before the transfer deadline. Gakpo attracted interest from Tottenham and Manchester City in recent weeks with his future uncertain ahead of Bradley Barcola’s arrival. Barcola is on the verge of finalising a £123 million move to Anfield after Andoni Iraola’s side struck an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain this week. But despite remaining a staple of the Reds’ starting line-up in the season’s opening weeks, the Netherlands international is still planning to depart. City emerged as surprise suitors for Gakpo and sounded out to his representatives about a potential move across the Premier League. According to the Athletic, the 27-year-old has now agreed to join Enzo Maresca’s side subject to a deal being reached between the clubs. Gakpo has produced 71 goal involvements in 181 apperances since joining from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 for an initial £35 million transfer.
