During last week’s game between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky, former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom, who has been mocking the WNBA by attempting to join the league as a fake trans woman, was removed from the stand following an incident with Sky star Natasha Cloud. Now, Cloud is officially speaking out. Following Sunday’s incident, Cloud addressed the media on Saturday, where she called Kanter Freedom “an irrelevant person” as she declined to say much about him. Kanter Ejected From Game During Sunday’s game between the Fever and the Sky, Kanter sat courtside at wearing a black T-shirt that read: “WOMAN noun. adult human female,” a statement against trans women in women’s sports. In the final minutes of the third quarter, tensions rose between Kanter and Cloud, resulting in a verbal altercation. At one point, the Sky guard began walking toward Kanter and shouting at him. Kanter, meanwhile, was standing with his arms outstretched and stepped toward the court before security escorted him out. Kanter then pumped his fist and mocked Cloud by making a talking gesture with his hand. Eventually, he waved his arms to the crowd before holding out his shirt to show its message while leaving. I’m just here to protect women and support her.’ And then, obviously, after that she started yapping, and she started to walk towards me, and literally I just got up, and then I was like, ‘I’m just here to protect women, and that’s all.’” After the game, Cloud took to social media to address the incident as she vowed to “protect” the trans community. To every trans kid/person, You are a part of MY community & tribe. You belong. You’re loved. You’re seen. You’re perfect as you are. & you will always be protected by me,” Cloud wrote in a post on Threads ‘An irrelevant person’ During an interview with the media on Saturday ahead of the team’s game against the New York Liberty, Cloud broke her silence on the controversy and the incident with Kanter Freedom, but she declined to address him by name. “I won’t be talking about anything that happened with an irrelevant person,” Cloud said via the New York Times. “What I will focus on is what actually affects women and children.” Cloud went on to claim that the outrage against trans athletes in women’s sports is an “intentional distraction.” “It is an intentional distraction,” Cloud said. “The more that we hate each other and have bias against each other, the more we’re going to be distracted from real-life issues that are plaguing these communities that we’re here to support and here to protect.” “We won’t allow our league to be used as a pawn for any political or cultural wars that the right wants,” Cloud said, per Chicago State of Mind Sports. “We’re absolutely not going to. This league has always stood on principle and on our humanitarian efforts.”
